Resumo: The present study aimed to analyze and identify risks in occupational activities that require high effort to examine the musculoskeletal system and musculoskeletal symptoms that affect workers who work in removing and transporting patients in hospitals. This occupational activity can cause the occurrence of work-related (MSDs) musculoskeletal disorder causing high frequency of repetitive stress injuries (RSI). From this, the present work focused specifically for removals and transport of patients conducted by the team of porters. The methodology used was an instrument called Scale Risk Assessment in Handling and Transfer. The results show that all activities related to the removal and transportation of patients require efforts that offer little, medium or very ergonomic risk was accrued results for each of them. To assess the incidence of musculoskeletal problems a derivative of the Nordic Questionnaire was used. During the transport process related to musculoskeletal symptoms showed percentages ranging from 14.5% to 71.5 % of cases. As a result of the research, although the lumbar region is present in the results, the body regions most strongly affected were the ankles / feet and knees.
