Resumo: Fishing is one of the oldest activities practiced by man, with records since prehistory. This activity is performed by making movements that require physical exertion, such as lifting, firing and pulling, and these movements are performed in a repetitive and cyclical way. Such physical demands can cause health problems, such as low back pain. This study evaluated the Prevalence of low back pain in fishermen and maricultores of the coast of Paraná. The data were collected through 3 questionnaires (1 - Personal information, physical and workday, 2- The RolandMorris Disability Questionnaire and 3 - Local and Visual Pain Scale). In order to verify the prevalence of low back pain and its relation with physical and labor variables, the Pearson test was used among the observed variables. For analysis, the SPSS software was used, with significance level of p <0.05. A total of 106 individuals with an average age of 45.5 ± 12.9 years who worked with fishing for more than 1 year participated in this study. the level of disability was 8.89 ± 6.75 (moderate to severe) and the pain scale was 4.79 ± 3.332 (mild to moderate). A prevalence of low back pain was identified in 67% of this population, and significant correlations between low back pain and variables related to length of service and age. This finding is of great importance to understand the exposure suffered by these workers.
