Pesticides; Textbooks; Chemistry Teaching This article seeks to describe and analyze the ways of presenting the theme of Pesticides, in the Chemistry textbooks indicated in the Brazilian Didactic Book National Program (2015) of high school. In order to do that, a book documental analysis with the use of categories previously reported in the literature (ASSIS; PIMENTA; SCHALL, 2013). The results point to fact that in the 12 volumes of the four Books analyzed, five volumes approached the subject of Pesticides. The Books that treat the subject present concepts and explanations of the scientific terms and offer reading, research and reflexive activities favoring the citizens’ awareness about the risks of Pesticides to the human health and to the environment. However, the Books do not work on the treatment possibilities of the environments contaminated by Pesticides and about the alternatives for sustainable agriculture, free use of pesticides.
