OBJECTIVE: To evaluated quality of life and its associated factors among employees of and educational institution from Criciúma, Santa Catarina.METHODS: It is a cross-sectional study carried out with 225 employees of a teaching institution with elementary, middle and high school, and university education, in Criciúma city, Santa Catarina. The quality of life outcome was assessed by the four domains according to WHOQOL-Bref. For the association between quality of life and the exposure variables studied (sex, age, skin color, marital status, schooling, income, nutritional status and sleep), T-test for independent samples and analysis of variance were used, followed by the Bonferroni test.RESULTS: The mean age of the sample was 40.2 years (± 11.0), predominantly women (63.1%). Male employees showed higher averages for the physical and environmental domains compared to the female ones. Those who received at least 5 minimum wages had greater averages in the physical, psychological and environmental domains when compared to those receiving from 1 to 2 minimum wages.CONCLUSIONS: The prevalence of common mental disorders found among teachers is important as it may reflect on general health and on their professional performance. |
