OBJECTIVE: To compare the quality of life of daytime and night-time securityguards at a higher education institution in the interior of the state São Paulo.METHODS: Research of a qualitative and descriptive nature, developed with asample of 40 day-shift and 40 night-shift security guards, in the year 2019. Theinstruments used were the WHOQOL-bref and the Body Mass Index. Statisticalanalysis was with Microsoft Excel 2016 Software and SPSS version 20.RESULTS: The mean total quality of life score was 79.66 for the day shift and 79.62for the night shift, and the averages were not statistically significant. Both shiftspresented the best score in the physical domain. This was followed by the socialrelations and psychological domains, and the environment domain with thelowest score. The self-assessment of quality of life was the one that presented theleast similar result between the shifts.CONCLUSIONS: In the evaluation of the quality of life of daytime and nighttimesecurity guards of a higher education institution in the interior of the state of SãoPaulo, no statistically significant difference was found between the shifts. Thescores of the global assessment and of the self-assessment of quality of life werehigh and the social relations domain was the one that most contributed to thisoutcome. OBJETIVO: Comparar a qualidade de vida dos vigilantes diurnos e noturnos deuma instituição de ensino superior no interior do estado de São Paulo.MÉTODOS: Pesquisa de natureza qualitativa e descritiva, desenvolvida com umaamostra de 40 vigilantes do turno diurno e 40 do noturno, no ano de 2019. Osinstrumentos utilizados no estudo foram o WHOQOL-bref e o Índice de MassaCorpórea. A análise estatística foi com Software Microsoft Excel 2016 e SPSSversão 20.RESULTADOS: A média do escore da qualidade de vida total foi de 79,66 para oturno diurno e 79,62 para o noturno, sendo as médias estatisticamente nãosignificativas. Os dois turnos apresentaram o escore de melhor valor no domíniofísico. Seguem os domínios relações sociais e psicológico, e o domínio do meioambiente com o menor valor. A autoavaliação da qualidade de vida foi a queapresentou o resultado menos semelhante entre os turnos.CONCLUSÕES: Na avaliação da qualidade de vida dos vigilantes diurnos enoturnos de uma instituição de ensino superior no interior do estado de São Paulonão foi encontrada diferença estatisticamente significativa entre os turnos. Osescores da avaliação global e da autoavaliação da qualidade de vida foramelevados e o domínio relações sociais foi o que mais contribuiu para estedesfecho.
