Currently, altimetric measurements of inland waters levels have been applied in the leveling of fluviometric stations, estimation of spatial, temporal and water storage variations in rivers and flood zones. Thus, the objective was to comparatively evaluate the water levels of virtual and conventional stations on the Madeira river. Three pairs of stations were selected containing one real and one virtual each, in a common data period, with altimetric measurements from the HIDROSAT portal (JASON 2 satellite) and data from the fluviometric stations of HIDROWEB (ANA). The statistical relationship between stations was verified through Pearson's correlation coefficients(R) and Determination coefficient(R2) and graphical analysis was used to verify the correspondence of hydrological behavior over time. The results showed that the data acquired by the satellite portrayed the regime of variation of levels of the in situ stations analyzed effectively, in addition to showing a strong correlation, reinforcing the possibility of your using it as a complementary base to the conventional monitoring system. Furthermore, the need to standardize the altimetric reference system for conventional stations was evident.
