OBJECTIVE: The objective was analyzing the association between quality of life (QoL) and physical activity level (PAL) among a community of the University.METHODS: A cross-sectional and exploratory study was conducted. We used the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) and the WHOQOL-100 to evaluate the PAL and QoL. 303 volunteers participated in a university community who were willing to answer the forms via the Internet. Descriptive and comparison analyzes were performed between groups ‘more active’ and ‘less active’ Chi-square, T Student and Mann Whitney testes were used considering p<0,05.RESULTS: The majority of subjects (64,0%) does not meet the world's recommendation of physical activity, and the highest percentage of inactive individuals the category were teachers (84,0%). As for the perception of QoL, the results show that, with the exception of spirituality domain, all others had higher mean values for individuals practicing vigorous activity.CONCLUSIONS: The level of physical activity was positively associated with QoL of volunteers, especially when it comes to regular physical activity vigorous. The results of this study reinforce the importance of regular physical activity to promote the QoL in this population and highlight the use of the internet as a data collection tool in groups with easy access. |
