To assess the quality of life of children was used the pentacle Welfare Proposed by Nahas (2006). This instrument consists of five lifestyle dimensions being: physical activity, nutrition, stress management, preventive behavior and social relationships. In each component, there are three issues with values of zero to three. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the "t" test for independent sample with a significance level of p <0.05.RESULTS: Students have satisfactory lifestyle. The boys have better results in the variable of physical activity and stress management in relation to the group of girls. Already the girls have significant results in preventive behavior variable. The variables of nutrition and social relationships were no significant differences between groups.CONCLUSIONS: The boys had a better lifestyle in relation to the group of girls. OBJETIVO: Comparar entre gêneros a qualidade de vida (QV) de adolescentes.MÉTODOS: A amostra foi composta por 1066 alunos (495 meninos e 571 meninas), com idade entre 14 e 17 anos. Para avaliar a qualidade de vida dos escolares foi utilizado o Pentáculo do Bem-Estar proposto por Nahas (2006). Esse instrumento é composto por cinco dimensões do estilo de vida, sendo: atividade física, nutrição, controle do estresse, comportamento preventivo e relacionamento social. Em cada componente existem três questões com valores de zero a três. Os dados obtidos foram analisados através da estatística descritiva e o teste t para amostra independente com nível de significância de p<0,05.RESULTADOS: Os alunos apresentam estilo de vida satisfatório. Os meninos apresentam melhores resultados na variável atividade física e controle do estresse em relação ao grupo de meninas. Já as meninas apresentam resultados significativos na variável comportamento preventivo. Nas variáveis nutrição e relacionamento social não foram encontradas diferenças significativas entre os grupos.CONCLUSÕES: Os meninos apresentaram um melhor estilo de vida em relação ao grupo de meninas.
