OBJECTIVE: Describe the WHOQOL-Pain instrument. In addition, a tool will be made available for optimization of the calculations of the scores and descriptive statistics of said instrument.METHODS: This is a theoretical review concerning the publications related to development of WHOQOL-Pain instrument. To perform the calculation of scores and descriptive statistics of the instrument was built from the Microsoft Excel software a free access tool.RESULTS: The WHOQOL-Pain instrument is composed by WHOQOL-100 plus four facets related to physical chronic pain: Pain relief, Anger and frustration, Vulnerability, fear and worry, and Uncertainty. The WHOQOL-Pain consists of 16 questions, 4 questions in each facet that have scale-based responses Likert five alternative s.CONCLUSIONS: The questions pertaining to the additional module of pain and discomfort of the WHOQOL-Pain are applied in an additional set of questions at the end of the WHOQOL-100 questions. |
