For the assessment were used World Health Organization Quality of Life and Burden Interview. For the data with normal distribution the student's t-test was used and for the non-homogeneous distributions the Mann-Whitney U-test was used. ANOVA one-way was used to compare three or more factors.RESULTS: The sample had a mean age of 48.5±16.2 years, the female gender were predominance (88%). Caregivers had worse quality of life score in the field environment and 44% were of mild to moderate burden. It was statistical significance inversely proportional between quality of life and level of burden.CONCLUSIONS: So, it can be concluded that caregiver impacted in the overload and it influenced the quality of life. OBJETIVO: Avaliar a percepção geral da qualidade de vida e o nível de sobrecarga dos cuidadores de deficientes físicos da Associação dos Deficientes Físicos de Guarapuava.MÉTODOS: Foi realizado um estudo transversal com 50 cuidadores de pessoas com deficiência física. Para a avaliação foram utilizados a versão abreviada do World Health Organization Quality of Life e a versão brasileira do Burden Interview. Para os dados com distribuição normal utilizou-se o teste t de student e para as distribuições não homogêneas utilizou-se o teste U de Mann-Whitney. Para comparação de três ou mais fatores utilizou-se o ANOVA one-way.RESULTADOS: A amostra apresentou idade média de 48,5±16,2 anos, com predominância do gênero feminino (88%). Os cuidadores apresentaram pior escore de qualidade de vida no domínio meio ambiente e 44% relataram leve a moderada sobrecarga.CONCLUSÕES: Constatou-se significância estatística inversamente proporcional entre qualidade de vida e nível de sobrecarga, de modo que a função de cuidar leva à sobrecarga o que impacta negativamente na qualidade de vida dos cuidadores.
