Cystic fibrosis; Quality of life; Questionnaires. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the quality of life (QoL) in patients with cystic fibrosis (CF) accompanied by a referral center in Minas Gerais using a application specific and validated.METHODS: Cross-sectional study of quantitative analysis with the application of the QoL questionnaire in CF, Shwachman-Kulczycki and spirometric values. The study sample consisted of 26 patients aged 6 to 29 years and 13 parents of children aged 6 to 13 years. Participants were divided into three groups: group I (6 to 13 years), group II (parents or caregivers of children 6 to 13 years), group III (≥14 years). The scores were presented as means and medians and analyzed using the Pearson linear correlation teste. The significance level of 5% was adopted.RESULTS: Patients with CF followed at this referral hospital in Minas Gerais presented a good perception of QoL and a excelent Shwachman-Kulczycki score. In group I, lower values for the digestive domain (67.49%) and higher for the domain implementation of treatment (83,84%) was found. In group II, lower scores in the weight area (65.70%) and higher for body image (84.61%) was observed. In group III, lower values for the social sector were found (71.12%) and higher for food (92.47%). Regarding the spirometric values, significant values were found correlating the relationship between forced expiratory volume in the first second and forced vital capacity (FEV1 / FVC) to physical domains / perception of health and functionality in group III.CONCLUSIONS: Patients with CF followed at the reference center of this study had a good perception of QoL, wich can be verified, in most domains analyzed, scores above 50. The use of specific questionnaires for the evaluation of QoL is a low cost method and should be easily applied and should be included in the routine of the health services1’ that serve1’ the population diagnosed with CF.
