OBJECTIVE: Analyze the QoL and physical activity of centenarians living in the Greater Florianópolis mesorregion, Santa Catarina, Brazil.METHODS: The study consisted of six centenarians with preserved cognitive function, four women (mean of 101.3 years) and two men (mean of 101 years), living in the Grande Florianópolis mesoregion, Santa Catarina, Brazil. The data collection instrument was the Multidimensional Centenarian Elderly Assessment Protocol, elaborated by the Laboratory of Gerontology (LAGER) of the State University of Santa Catarina (UDESC), built for the SC100 study: multidimensional study of the centenarians of Santa Catarina. From this protocol, questions regarding the identification of the elderly and socio-demographic characteristics, cognitive screening (Mini Mental State Examination), quality of life assessment (EUROHIS-QOL-08) and physical activity on a weekly average of the number of steps / day (pedometer).RESULTS: Most of the centenarians had a satisfactory quality of life, with a score above 80 points and a variation of 304 to 3691 steps / day with a weekly average of 1,609.5 steps / day, with a mean of 899 steps per day and of men 3030 steps / day.CONCLUSIONS: Even with the majority of centenarians presenting high QoL perception, it was found that the level of physical activity and the mean number of step/day obtained were lower than that recommended for healthy elderly people. The most positive perception of QoL was related to the environment and the most negative perception of health.
