Resumo: This paper presents a study on the generation of electricity from wind generation. The study had focused on the generation of harmonics caused by frequency control systems of wind turbines. To this end, it was necessary a preliminary study on the current situation of power generation by wind source in Brazil and energy transformation processes involved in the operation of a wind turbine, was also necessary for the simulation of a wind turbine feeding purely resistive loads. The simulations were developed with the ATP program (Alternative Transients Program) in the time domain. The ATP program were modeled the main components and the load. The values of the harmonic frequency currents used in the simulations were obtained from the national wind turbine maker. Thus, through the results found get the DHTv (Total harmonic distortion of voltage) and DHTi (Total harmonic distortion) and determine if the wind turbine model analyzed in this work meets the standard NBR IEC 61400-21, national standard that evaluates the quality of the energy of wind turbines
