Whit the electronic tecnological advance have providing a greater comfort to the users of the system with regard energy consumption, in addition to the emergence of more efficient equipment energy. Although, this equipments have the caracteristic of not presenting linear relation whit tension and current (none linear charges), generating harmonics which are injected into the low voltage network. Presents a theoretical framework on harmonics and its main effects in the distribution system, also getting the types of filters used to correct them. Then, in order to verify the efficacy of a tuned passive filter RLC type next to the transformer of the distribution network to mitigate the levels of current harmonics, the project and the simulation of a filter were made and the final results were examined. Atualmente, as concessionárias de energia buscam a melhoria na qualidade da energia fornecida no sistema elétrico, devido aos níveis de energia reativa existente no sistema, que causam grandes perdas de energia e do potencial fornecido. Com o avanço da tecnologia eletroeletrônica, tem-se propiciado um maior conforto aos usuários do sistema quanto ao consumo de energia, além do surgimento de aparelhos mais eficientes energeticamente. Todavia, estes aparelhos tem a característica de não apresentarem uma relação linear entre a tensão e a corrente (cargas não lineares), gerando harmônicos que são injetados na rede de baixa tensão. Neste trabalho é apresentado um referencial teórico sobre harmônicos e seus principais efeitos no sistema de distribuição, levantando também os tipos de filtros usados para corrigi-los.
