This work presents a series of requirements based on current Brazilian technical standards for an effective and safe atmospheric discharge protection system. On several occasions, those responsible for the integrity of the structure and security of the people do not bother to carry out periodic inspections in their protection systems as they recommend in the technical norms, putting at risk the building, equipment and especially the life of the people who circulate on site. The objective of this approach is to have theoretical content to carry out studies on the existent systems in residential condominiums that were designed according to previous versions of the norms, with the view to analyze the technical feasibility in adapting them according to the requirements foreseen in the current norms, for the safety of the people and the structure. The study showed that the three condominiums analyzed can not be considered adequate according to the requirements established by ABNT NBR 5419:2015. Therefore, there is a need to make adjustments so that the risks of problems caused by atmospheric discharges are reduced to the values established by the standard. |
