Resumo: Load alterations occur constantly in the electrical system, causing variations in the network frequency, it may be prejudicial to all the equipments connected to the system, and principally to the consumer. The present work has the objective of applying the optimum control theory, specifically the Quadratic Linear Control into a simplified model of an Electric Power System aiming at frequency stabilization and efficient use of the controller, that is the turbine intake. The modeling of the system is performed by the state-space technique and it is considered that turbine is thermal and without reheating. The optimal controller performance is evaluated by computational simulations and compared with a classic controller commonly used for this type of system. The results are presented and discussed at the end.
