The objective is to support the Decision Maker (Rectors, Pro-rectors and/or Directors) in the projection of electricity consumption and the corresponding financial resources necessary for investments in extensions. The research sample is of 25 Federal Institutions of Education of the south of Brazil, of which the following data were considered: the consumption of electrical energy, the number of enrolled students and the constructed area, obtained through public documents available on the Internet. For the definition of the model that correlates the independent variables (students enrolled and built area) to obtain the value of the dependent variable (energy consumption), the statistical method of Multiple Linear Regression Analysis is used, with support of the computational tool IBM SPSS Statistics Base 23 for Windows. The development of Regression and analysis of social and environmental factors allowed the development of an indicator capable of estimating the consumption of a university, reflecting the impact that an energy efficiency project has on issues such as increasing the number of students in universities, or reduction in greenhouse effect gas emissions. The equations demonstrated were tested with the data collected from the universities, with subsequent discussion of the errors found. Este trabalho apresenta um Indicador de Eficiência Energética, no intuito de auxiliar a Tomada de Decisão relacionada a investimentos em projetos deEficiência Energética em Instituições de Ensino Superior (IES). O objetivo é subsidiar o Tomador de Decisão (Reitores, Pró - reitores e/ou Diretores) na projeção do consumo de energia elétrica e os correspondentes recursos financeiros necessários para investimentos em ampliações. A amostra de pesquisa é de 25 Instituições Federais de Ensino do sul do Brasil, das quais foram considerados os seguintes dados: o consumo de energia elétrica, o número de alunos matriculados e a área construída, obtidos por meio de documentos públicos disponíveis na Internet. Para definição do modelo que correlaciona as variáveis independentes (alunos matriculados e área construída) para obter o valor da variável dependente (consumo de energia), utiliza-se o método estatístico de Análise de Regressão Linear Múltipla, com suporte da ferramenta computacional IBM SPSS Statistics Base 23 para Windows. O desenvolvimento da Regressão e análise de fatores sociais e ambientais permitiu o desenvolvimento de um indicador capaz de realizar uma estimativa do consumo de uma universidade, refletindo o impacto que um projeto de eficiência energética tem em questões como ampliação do número de alunos em universidades, ou a redução na emissão de gases do efeito estufa.
