As part of a functional economy trend, servitization has gained space and new business models based on integrated products have emerged. Among these models stands the product-service system (PSS), whose principle is to unite tangible and intangible aspects to meet customer needs. Among the categories of this model, the one with the major integration between product and service is called use oriented, characterized by the sale of the usufruct and the retention of the product ownership by the supplier. This business feature allows more profitable and sustainable end-of-life strategies, increasing the need to consider de product reuse even in the design phase. Among the strategies, the remanufacturing stands out for allowing the renovation and reformulation of parts and products, having specific methods for its success. The goal of this work is to evaluate the methods that help the remanufaturability of products in a use oriented product-service system. The adopted procedure includes reviews of the literature to survey the methods and, after understanding their characteristics, scope and limitations, it was possible to define criteria to evaluate the methods according to their comprehensiveness in considering influente issues in the remanufaturability. Among the results, the work provides a detailed review of four methods that assist in the remanufaturability of products applied to PSS, nine design indicators and an analysis of comprehensiveness of the methods. It is demonstrated the lack of aspects related to the short usage cycles that influence in the product remanufacturing potential of use-oriented PSS. |
