Resumo: The actual prototype-mould production systems, specifics for prototype injection and low edition of parts, still has high cost and time of fabrication. It is proposed in this paper the analysis of a new direct production technology, the rapid tooling (RT) by 3D printer (PolyjetTM) and a new material (Digital ABS) for mould manufacture. This method advantages are the low time production, low cost in comparison with the traditional production ways, such as machining and indirect RT. This paper consists at the injection of specimens in polypropylene (CP 204- Braskem) and in the characterization of its mechanicals properties in compassion with the traditional prototype-mould, manufactured in aluminium, zamak and steel. For it were ran tensile, bending, hardness and impact tests. Also was analysed the superficial roughness and dimensional measurement of the Digital ABS insert for verify its integrity. The result show that the samples obtained by the Digital ABS insert present equivalent mechanical characteristics of the manufactured metallic molds. The insert showed no dimensional or relevant surface roughness variations.
