Resumo: The following study focused on the development and implementation of a device for mounting and drive the engine tensioner kit, aimed at reducing the cost of rework engines and relieve the burden of the corresponding workstation, in order to reduce the time of the line cycle. The problem in question was verified to an engine plant in the metropolitan region of Curitiba. The operation was based on driving a motor current kit tensioner. The employee performed the task with hand-shaped wedge. This indicated a lack of default during execution of the movement, since this depends on the force employed. This first study aimed to identify the causes of this problem, and then, the development of a conceptual design of an automatic device intended to eliminate the problems presented herein. The detailed design of the new device was performed by the company's engineers. Implementation and post installation analysis gains were the responsibility of the members of this term paper. For the development of activities presented here were employed quality tools and theories related to project methodology. Among the main objectives here employees can be cited: the assurance that the clamping operation is performed accurately and rapidly, higher end product quality and better conditions to the operators. It should also be cited advantages that the new equipment brings to the company, such as reducing cycle time and gains for the split of costs. Thus, the implementation of this project only brings gains for the company in question, and enable the development of knowledge acquired over years studied during the course of Mechanical Engineering.
