Residential areas in large cities became more and more subdivided, so that the size of terrain lots decreased with time. Furthermore, the cost per square meter for available lots gets higher and higher. In this scenario, houses with more than one floor have been seeing as a very attractive alternative for people who need more useful space. However, the need for dislocation between the floors is a problem for architects and engineers, since some people, such as old people, people in needs, and others, are not able to move through stairs, ramps or other classic devices. Besides, the available solutions for these people, like standard elevators, require particular design, and often show high costs. Thus, is makes opportune to develop a device that is capable to provide the vertical dislocation between two or more floors, in a residential environment. The aim of this work was to research and design an equipment to provide the vertical displacement, and also to match the customers requirements. The Pahl et al. (2005) methodology was followed during the course of this work. After the customer needs was searched and determined across interviews and residential market survey, fourteen conceptions of a product was created. From these, one conception was selected, refined and evaluated, and then a prototype was constructed. Tests were made, in way to validate the performance with the product specification, and they showed success to most of the specification issues. |
