Resumo: This study presents as a main objective to analize the properties in the samples of tool steel H13 with three different surface finishings when a surface treatment of black oxidizing is applied. In order to characterize this coating in three different surface finishing before and after the black oxidizing, were used sweeping electronic microscopy (SEM) techniques to characterize the samples surface morphology, roughness measurements with interferometer machine to determine the roughness profile (2D) and the surface roughness chosen randomly areas on the sample’s surface, hardness before black oxidizing and layer micro hardness after treatment, coefficient of static friction to determine how this properties may vary depending on the three surface finishings before and after the black oxidizing process. After all tests have been done, it was possible to determine how and how much the properties above mentioned were influenced by the black oxidizing treatment and if the application of this coating with different surface finishings might, in fact, bring benefits with coherent applications with the reality within companies which are interested in manufacture casted and injected parts into the H13 tool steel molds.
