Resumo: The present work presents the development of a monitoring system to be used on the 3D printing process in order to detect two problems during the printing, which can result in waste of material, time and even defective parts. The first problem is the part detachment from the printing table that happens with unfavorable geometry parts to fixture. The second problem is the lack of material deposition, which happens when the polymeric filament is not extruded during the printing, causing the machine to continue moving without forming the part. To detect the problems along the process, a machine vision system was applied, using a software developed in a LabVIEW module, Vision Builder, with the appropriate camera, fixture and illumination, to track the printing of a part. The development of the monitoring system happened through an iterative process of creation and testing, during the printing of parts with different colors and dimensions, until a functional and simple solution was obtained. The result is a monitoring system using machine vision with the capability of automatically detecting the detachment of parts and the lack of material deposition.
