Resumo: Injection thermoplastic polymer processing industries have been continuously adopting CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) on parts and molding development, aiming for design flaws correction before tool execution (mold). The CAE tool allows to simulate an injection process, considering the 3D drawing design of the part to be injected, demonstrating the polymer behavior during injection and the characteristics of the part after injection under specifics parameters. In 2012, Dassault Systemes launched CAE Solidworks Plastics, however, there are not many documents prospecting its potential and reliability. Therefore, the main goal of this work is to produce a courseware to use in class for a better comprehension of the influence of the plastic injection process parameters with the help of the Solidworks Plastics tool. In order to do so, first the present study tested the short shot method to determine the optimum injection parameters for a specific material, then a part simulation was run using these parameters and a variation surrounding this condition to better understand the operation of the soft, including its characteristics and limitations and, finally shows a step-by-step operation of the injection simulation using the Solidworks Plastics tool.
