Resumo: The objective of this work was to evaluate harvesting times and the effect of cold stratification on the rooting of figs 'Roxo de Valinhos'. The experiment was carried out in the Unit of Education and Research in Fruticulture of the UTFPR – DV. The cuttings were collected on the 1st of April, May, June, July, August and September, having been withdrawn in equal numbers, of the same plants, of the intermediate position of the branches of the last growing season. Subsequently, the cuttings were standardized with 20 cm in length and 1,0 cm to 1,5 cm in diameter, half of which were immediately buried in a bed of 20 cm of depth with substrate based on sand and vermiculite, in the proportion of 3: 1 (v: v) and, the other half, was subjected to wet cold stratification in BOD (wrapped in newspaper moistened and placed inside black plastic bags, in the dark), at 5° C for 30 days, before being planted. The experimental design was a randomized random blocks, in factorial scheme 6 (collection times) x 2 (with and without stratification), resulting in 12 treatments with four replicates of 12 stakes per experimental unit, totaling 576 stakes. After 120 days of planting the cuttings of each pre-established season, the same had been removed for the survival percentage evaluations of seedlings, length of the three largest radicels, dry mass of the aerial part, dry mass of the roots, number of leaves, number of primary shoots, average length of branches, percentage of green and dead cuttings. The rooting environment used was the plastic greenhouse, which was monitored in its temperature and humidity using a portable datalogger. It was observed that the best indexes for the analyzed variables were obtained in the months with milder temperatures, being April and August the best seasons for collections of stakes in Dois Vizinhos - PR. The dormancy exit of the plants was favorable for the collection of cuttings of fig tree Roxo de Valinhos. The cold stratification was not effective in the best part of the rooting indices of fig cuttings. Even so, cold stratification is an alternative of conditioning the cuttings for propagation at the more appropriate time.
