The jabuticabeira has high commercial potential, but its cultivation has several obstacles, mainly the seedlings production. The objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of mucilage removal of seeds in polyembryonic emergency rate and development of Açú jabuticabeira seedlings (Plinia cauliflora). The fruits were collected from a native specimen of jabuticabeira located in Clevelândia, Paraná, the seeds were extracted and were applied the following treatments: mucilage removal with pectinase; mucilage removal with quicklime; seed without mucilage extraction; and sowing the whole fruit. The seeds and whole fruits were sown in plastic tubes (288 cm3) containing commercial substrate, kept in a greenhouse. A completely randomized design with eight replicates of 12 seeds was applied. Were evaluated the emergency percentage, the emergence speed index and the percentage of polyembryony from counting the number of emerged seedlings every 3-4 days, from 25 th to 180 th day after sowing. The average height of the plants was measured at nine months, and 24 months after sowing was carried out the evaluation of plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, leaf area, dry matter of roots and shoots, mass of matter dry overall, ratio of shoot dry matter to root dry matter (SRR), shoot height of the relationship with the stem diameter (RAD) and Dickson quality index. The results showed that for the production of jabuticabeira cuttings is essential cleaning seed mucilage and recommended pretreatment to remove the mucilage with quicklime or pectinase. |
