The seed conservation is to preserve the basic function of the physiological quality of the same. Scientific research aimed at seed storage should be developed targeting the sustainable use of germplasm. Studies on longevity natural forest seeds are essential for the management of promising species. Ipê species are used both for the restoration of areas of native forests as well as to urban forestry. It is essential to have knowledge of appropriate conservation of their seeds, with a view to maximizing the storage period of these. The aim of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of ipê yellow subjected to two levels of desiccation (4 and 6%), packed in plastic bags and stored in a freezer environment (-17 ° C) during the period of six months. The germination and vigor tests were performed at the time that preceded the drying and at 2, 4 and 6 months. Papers were used germitest with four replicates of 100 seeds. The tests were conducted in an incubator at 25 ° C Mangelsdorf over a period of 21 days for subsequent reading of the values of germination. The statistical procedure used was a factorial design with two factors. Factor A with four levels, was the time of seed storage (0, 2, 4 and 6 months) and factor B with two levels, was the moisture content at which the seeds were subjected to storage (4 and 6 %). To check the level of significance of the factors and their interactions, we performed the test F. When significant tests were applied medium (Skott-Knott) for qualitative factors and regression analysis for the factor storage time. Proceeded to the test of homogeneity of variance by Lilliefors Test and when applicable, the means observed were transformed. The results showed that the higher the level of seed desiccation better are the results of germination, so it is recommended to submit ipê yellow drying to obtain 4% water content, in order that they remain viable for a period of six months, stored in a freezer environment. |
