Resumo: The objective of this work is to establish a protocol for the efficient management of Pinus species: P. taeda L., P. elliottii Engelm. E P. maximinoi H.E. Moore, in addition to the variety P. caribaea var. Caribaea UFPR, no Agrarian Sciences Sector, Curitiba/PR and UTFPR Madeira Technology Laboratory, Dois Vizinhos/PR. An extraction of the pollen from the food was carried out using sieves. A) vacuum drying with silica gel, b) oven drying (maximum 30°C), and c) lyophilization. For the in vitro germination tests, different culture media considered different (10%) were used, such as sucrose (standard), glucose, galactose and xylose, using the Brewbaker & Kwack and agar 8 g.L-1. The germination tests were conducted without experimental design in randomized blocks with four replicates and a count of 300 grams per replicate. The analysis of variance considers the germination data transformed into arc sen√P/100. The Tukey test (1%) of means data were used in the data analysis. It has been found that the culture medium contains xylose, it is not indicated for the in vitro germination test of Pinus pollen. Sucrose (standard medium), which offers higher percentages of germination, being more suitable for three quality trials. The highest indices were 59% and 58% for P. elliottii and P. taeda, respectively. The same happens for the development of the pollen tube of the pollen grams, for the species P. maximinoi with average of 77μm and P. elliottii with average of 75μm of total length of the tube. Greenhouse drying methods and a vacuum are efficient and indicated for aid in cryopreservation. However, drying in a freeze dryer was not possible for the pollen (winged) characteristic. The pollen presented a behavior different from usual, and is not described in any literature. Studies on germination, viability and behavior of populations and concentrations are therefore needed.
