Ecology is a subject present in many different courses’ syllabi, including Biological Sciences. Aspects regarding the relation between the environment and organisms are addressed in Ecology. The employment of diverse teaching methodologies and seeking for new possibilities make Ecology teaching more attractive to university students, thus, a better understanding of the subject will promote the education of future critical and competent professionals. The teaching methodologies are the means used by the teachers that will allow the students comprehend the subject content. The choosing of such methodologies for each content will demand precaution and planning in order to achieve the classes objectives. The goals of this research are to apply and assess different teaching methodologies when it comes to teaching Ecology, and from the results gathered, elaborate a didactic booklet. The research uses pre and post questionnaires for methodological procedures, applied to 11 undergraduate students who take General Ecology and study Biological Sciences at Federal Technological University of Paraná - UTFPR - Dois Vizinhos campus. The digital platform “classroom” has been used in order to facilitate the application of different teaching methodologies. The results show that expositive-dialogued classes and oriented studies are the most employed teaching methodologies by the teachers, and are also considered more interesting and attractive by the students in relation to General Ecology syllabi. We have come to the conclusion that the educational platform “classroom” is a possibility to be used as a contributing tool in university classes and the application of different teaching methodologies adds to more interesting Ecology classes. |
