Resumo: Environmental problems are increasingly present in the daily lives of people, providing a new worldview that we live. This awareness is being raised more and more early in the school environment, with environmental education (EA) being an important tool. The objective of this study was to investigate the social representations of children in Early Childhood Education (EI) about the environment through drawings. For the accomplishment of this objective, a bibliographical review on the subject was carried out, highlighting the importance of the educator as mediator, bringing to the student a greater contact with nature and establishing the relationship between man and nature. For the intervention process, strategies of perceptions were used, using technologies, videos, dynamics, molds of footprints and elaboration of a garden. The subjects of the research were 19 4-5 year old students, EI students of a Municipal Infant Education Center, located in the city of Dois Vizinhos. The social representations were obtained through drawings, which were organized in artificial and natural media. In the artificial medium there was the representation of houses, and buildings, already in the natural environment symbols related to the fauna flora and atmosphere were the most represented. The results show that natural goods predominated, suggesting that the perceived environment is the one essentially visualized.
