Resumo: The food deficit during the fall / winter because of seasonality in forage production is a limitation in the production of beef cattle in the South. However, some strategies can be used to meet this forage decreased during the cold season. The objective to evaluate the influence of energy supplement and/or mixed between grasses and legumes on performance of bovines Marchegiana x Angus held on oat and ryegrass pastures consortium with or without vetch. The work was conducted in farm of the Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná in Campus Dois Vizinhos. The trail was conducted of June to August of the 2014. The area to the experiment was seven hectares, which was divided on nine paddocks with an average of 0.655 ha. The cultivars that was used are Embrapa 139 oat (Avena strigosa Schreb), common ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum Lam) and vetch cv. Ametista (Vicia sativa L.). The experimental design is a randomized block design, with three treatments, OR+S: oats + ryegrass + supplementation, ORV+S: oats + ryegrass + vetch + supplementation and ORV: oat + ryegrass + vetch without suplement, with three replicates for treatment. Was used 27 cross bred calves genetic group were used 1/4 Marchegiana 1/4 Aberdeen Angus 2/4 Nellore called testers animals, with initial age of 7 months and weighing 190 kg. To the adjust the stocking rate in the paddocks was used an offer foragem of 10.0 kg of dry matter per 100 kg live weight. The dry mass forage for hectare was estimated by double sampling technique and the average daily gain was measure the each 28 days with fasting period of the food and water of 14 hours. To the chemical composition of the pasture was made the evaluations of the neutral detergent fiber, acid detergent fiber, crude protein and in vitro digestibility of dry matter. The data was analyzed by variance analyze and F test, when observed statistical difference the averages are compared by Tukey test at 5% level of significance. Supplementation associated with cool season grasses associated or not with vetch optimizes mass production of forage providing increased live weight gain per area of calves.
