The survey was conducted in January 2014 in the city of royalty, in two treatments: animals raised on pasture and silvopasturesystem.A methodology for assessing the welfare of dairy heifers was used, considering the following items: good health, easy and abundant access to food and water, positive human animal interaction, space intended for resting and shading that is sufficient and thermal quality all animals, and are evaluated for the thermoregulation of animals.With this information, it was concluded the silvopasturesystem contributes to a better level of animal welfare by providing better environmental conditions with milder temperatures compared to the outdoor system, improving the degree of thermal comfort for dairy heifers. Com o aumento da produção mundial de leite e a preocupação dos consumidores com a qualidade e ética nos sistemas de produção, o bem-estar dos animais tem ganhado maior atenção da indústria. O Brasil como terceiro maior produtor mundial, recentemente iniciou a adequação do sistema de produção com base em protocolos internacionais de bem-estar animal. Neste contexto, considerando as particularidades dos sistemas de produção animal do Brasil, e mais especificamente do estado do Paraná, o objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar as condições de bem-estar de novilhas leiteiras criadas em sistema silvipastoril, na região do sudoeste do Paraná. A pesquisa foi realizada no mês de janeiro de 2014, no município de Realeza, em dois tratamentos: animais criados à pasto em sistema silvipastoril. Foi utilizada uma metodologia de avaliação de bem-estar de novilhas leiteiras, considerando os seguintes itens: boa saúde, acesso fácil e abundante à alimentação e água, interação humano animal positiva, espaço destinado para descanso e sombreamento que seja suficiente e de qualidade térmica para todos os animais, além de serem avaliadas variáveis de termorregulação dos animais. Com estas informações, concluiu-se que o sistema silvipastoril contribuiu para um melhor índice de bem estar animal, por propiciar melhores condições ambientais com temperaturas mais amenas comparadas ao sistema ao ar livre, melhorando o grau de conforto térmico para novilhas leiteiras. 2020-11-13T14:06:06Z 2020-11-13T14:06:06Z 2014-02-18 bachelorThesis GONÇALVES, Francielle Soares.
