Resumo: The chemical, physical and biological properties of the soil can be altered as it is managed and used. The Carbon / Nitrogen ratio is one of the characteristics that determines the rate of decomposition of any organic material assimilated in the soil. The present work aimed to apply some techniques of characterization and chemical analysis on a Dark Red Latosol, in order to collect data of the effects of different slopes on the content of organic carbon and total nitrogen. Soil samples were collected in a rural area in the city of Francisco Beltrão - PR, Under an area which is developed rotating agricultural activities, with winter oats and corn in the summer. From the survey of these data and statistical analyzes, it was verified that in the section where there was a lower slope variation there were higher levels of Carbon and Nitrogen.
