Resumo: The tree planting has a big importance in the society quality of life, contributing with the environmental physical-chemical equilibrium. However, there are conflicts between tree planting and the urban developing, and for both coexist it is needed an appropriate planning. Thereby, the current study had as objective to analyze the current situation of tree planting in the Universidade Tecnologica Federal do Parana, campus Francisco Beltrão, as well as, to make the planning and implementation of new arboreal individuals. For this, it was made the forestry inventory of the Campus, soil physical-chemical analyses, planning and implementation of new arboreal species, as well as the accomplishment of an opinion research with academic community about the importance of tree planting in urban public spaces. The campus has 103 arboreal individuals, distributed in 11 species, being 7 native species and 4 exotics. Regarding soil physical-chemical analyses the results were not discrepant among the sections, which the presented changes were corrected with fertilizing and liming to provide better developing of the plants. 141 arboreal individuals were chosen and planted, around the campus, from 5 exotics species and 23 natives, the specie with higher frequency was the Ingá-feijão, with 18,44%, justifying for wide tree planting in the parking lots. Regarding to academic community perception, 174 people were interviewed, and 72% of them classified the campus as a few forested, 25% as reasonably forested and just 3% as much forested. In general, the academic community presented so much sensitized as tree planting benefits.
