The foundation system designed for the building consists of the use of continuous propeller piles, which have standardized (constant) lengths for all system units. Therefore, the option adopted in the design of the foundations of the building is evaluated, with the purpose of identifying if this was the best technical and economical solution for the case studied. For the evaluation, both technical aspects, such as execution time, as well as economic aspects were considered, elaboration of budgets using as base the System of Reference Costs of Works (SICRO) and the National System of Costs Research and Indexes of the Construction (SINAPI) and the composition and pricing table for budgets (TCPO). The results show that the solution used was not the best for the relation between loads and soil carrying capacity of the site. Considering the aspects analyzed, it can be concluded that the best choice for this system is based on the use of mechanically dug piles, which can achieve savings of more than 5%. Finally, we discuss the need to change an immediate culture regarding engineering projects, especially with regard to public works. O presente trabalho consiste no comparativo de diferentes tipos de fundações, direta e indireta, dimensionadas para transmitir as cargas provenientes da estrutura para o solo onde se localiza o bloco P da Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná – Câmpus Guarapuava. O sistema de fundações projetado para a edificação é composto pela utilização de estacas tipo hélice contínua, as quais possuem comprimentos padronizados (constantes) para todas as unidades do sistema. Logo, avalia-se a opção adotada no projeto das fundações da edificação, com o propósito de identificar se essa foi a melhor solução técnica e econômica a obra. Para a avaliação, foram considerados tanto aspectos técnicos, como tempo de execução, quanto econômicos, elaboração de orçamentos utilizando como base o Sistema de Custos Referenciais de Obras (SICRO), o Sistema Nacional de Pesquisas de Custo e Índices da Construção Civil (SINAPI) e a Tabela de Composições e Preços para Orçamentos (TCPO). Os resultados demonstram que a solução empregada não foi a melhor para a relação entre cargas e capacidade de suporte do solo do local. Ponderando-se sobre os aspectos analisados, conclui-se que a melhor escolha para esse sistema se dá a partir da utilização de estacas escavadas mecanicamente, podendo atingir uma economia maior que 5%.
