Resumo: The coating of masonry and surfaces constitutes, in a monetary and chronological manner, an importante step in the process of execution of a building work. Within this, the option to use mortar coating is widespread in construction. It has two distinct application methodologies, manual and projected. While in manual application the coating is performed with a "trowel", in the projected application it is used a mechanized mixer and a projector. The objectiv, of this work, was to present the similarities and differences in the stages of these two application methods. Moreover, being able to see advantages and deadvantages between them taking into account parameters such as productivity and costs. For this, was used data available in specialized media and research published/registered, to obtain information. It was later verified, in a practical way, through tests performed on a work being performed. Through the results it was possible to observe that both execution methods have advantages and diadvantages. Highlights are the velocity of execution of the projected coating and the cost of the coating applied manually. The adoption by one of the methodologies shoud be analyzed according to the need of each work, case by case.
