In this work an algorithm will be developed to obtain the solution of an already existent mathematical model of flame spread over thick solid fuels in a concurrent flow environment. The mathematical model consists in a system of unsteady twodimensional differential partial equations, where the combustion is modeled by finite rate kinects and the pyrolysis reaction is modeled by Arrhenius law as a superficial reaction. The main purpose of studying the flame spread over solid fuels consists, mainly, in fire safety concerns. The solution obtained by the algorithm will allow us to observe the phenomena that is present in the real process of flame spread as: detailed flame structure, ignition, flame growth, formation of the combustion plume, thermal plume, the vaporization region, heating of the unburned regions due to the conduction and advection of heat in the flame, vapor flux etc. Besides, the algorithm will allow the variation of several parameters as the solid materials, oxygen concentration and flow speed, so it is possible to verify the influence of these parameters in the formation, growth and spread of the flame. Despite this it is not the main aim of this work, letting this for possible future works. |
