Resumo: The metal tubes bring advantages such as lightness, strength and great potential for profitability and versatility. Among the various configurations of tubes and welded tubular joints, it is necessary to evaluate and compare which joint configuration is most appropriate to the design. In the present work, two methods of manufacturing welded tubular joints from the finite element method (MEF), tensile test and effective weld length were compared. In MEF, the effects of stresses on the joint were evaluated when subjected to static force, changing mesh parameters, in order to obtain regions of stress concentration, thus predicting regions of possible failure. In the tensile test a load was applied with continuous and slow growth, in order to be considered static, resembling the results of the MEF to the test, until reaching the fault. Finally, the effective weld length of each method was compared and obtained the most economical and resistant method.
