The construction industry stands out as one of the largest generators of waste in volume, often causing impacts to the environment due to natural resource consumption, waste production and the landscape modification. Therefore, it becomes necessary to take measures to reduce the generation of construction waste (CW), which should be incorporated into the daily life of the construction, since the planning stage. The purpose of this work was to develop indexes of CW generation with a quantification method based on the constructed building area, creating a parameter that can be used by constructors and other professionals for the preparation of the Construction Waste Management Plan (CWMP). It was analyzed waste generation data from three multifamily residential buildings of a large construction company in Londrina. The buildings analyzed were characterized and they were already finished at the beginning of this study. The data obtained by the contractor were cataloged and correlated with the areas of each building. The average rate of generation per built area found was 178.8 kg.m-2. A waste disposal cost analysis was conducted and as result it was obtained that the costs of the A class waste were superior to other classes of residues. Finally, it was described techniques used by the construction company to help reducing waste generation. The indices found can be used to assist in CWMP preparation. The use of advanced building techniques influence in decreasing the generation of CW, and consequently reduces the costs and the environmental impacts associated with the waste disposal. |
