Environmental pollution resulting from mistaken foreclosure and lack of monitoring of a waste disposal has become a major problem today. The closure of landfills and waste should be carried out with the introduction and soil compaction so that the cover layer minimizes pollution and environmental degradation. The geotechnical properties are essential for the characterization of soil properties. This study aims to evaluate the geotechnical properties of soil of the former waste disposal site in the municipality of foreclosure Rolândia - PR . The deposit of waste into foreclosure is located in an area with geographical coordinates of Latitude 23 º 18'21090 " S Longitude 51º22'29760" W. The area of waste disposal Rolândia was divided into three distinct parts: downstream, ramp, and cover the deposit of waste layer. Soil sampling in three random samples deformed 10 kg were collected in each area in water depth 5-20 cm for characterization testing and testing with intermediate Proctor compaction energy. Undisturbed two random samples were taken from each location for evaluation of the soil structure, soil core through the aluminum of 2.54 cm (1") by 6.35 cm internal diameter (2.5 "). The soil had an average slope of 500 g.kg -1 clay in its composition, with 290 g.kg -1 sand. In the cover layer, clay content had an average of only 750 g.kg -1 and 200 g.kg -1 sand. This influenced the values of particle density , which were higher in soils of the ramp (3.03 g.cm -3 ) the higher sand content . In addition, the lower critical density values were obtained in the compaction of soil in landfill cover layer due to the higher clay composition in the soil. The degree of compaction did not differ between the three areas, showing the work of soil compaction on the final layer (on waste) closing the dump was performed inefficiently, since the degree of compaction is similar to the values obtained using the deposit, which was a missing action compactor machinery site. Proper closure of a waste disposal can help reduce the flow of gases into the atmosphere, as well as the flow of pollutants into groundwater. |
