The construction industry is one of the economy sectors that has the highest rates of waste generation, which when not managed properly, result in high costs for transportation and disposal, as well as significant environmental impacts. Thus, it is of paramount importance to proper management this waste, so that its segregation is carried out in the font, according to the legislation. Measures for assessing the quality of this segregation assist waste generators in making decision, which can deploy preventive or corrective actions in order to meet standards and federal, state and local laws. However, few evaluation methods are known and implemented by generators, and the existing ones present great subjectivity, by assigning only the evaluator the task of qualifying the segregation of waste in the font. The objective of this study was to improve a segregation quality index (IQS) existing in a waste management software construction, called Waste Manager (WM), with the proposition of a new method for assessing the quality of segregation the buckets at the time are sent to the final destination. Therefore, existing waste management data of a construction work was analyzed in WM software and field visits were made in order to survey the actual situation of the waste containers. From the analysis of this scenario, the new method was proposed by adding the density data of the waste containers and non-compliances observed. Then, the new method was applied to the reality of the construction work studied and the results were compared to the existing method in order to analyze the differences in the evaluation accuracy. It was possible to conclude that the new method is more rigorous, in addition to better representing the reality of the construction containers, since the evaluation becomes less subjective. Thus, it is recommended its application in construction works for the determination of the IQS. |
