Resumo: During the productive cycle of the animals, the consumption of water for the watering and cleaning of the environments of creation of the same is extremely high. In the same way the production of the pigs to the slaughter follows the same pattern, necessitating a very large volume of water. Considering this issue, a case study was proposed in a pig farm, in order to verify the feasibility or not of the implantation of a system of collection and storage of rain water to meet the water demand of the same one. Visits to the farm were carried out, where characteristic data were collected that would influence the consumption of water. In order to measure the volume of water, water meters were installed in all the water entrance points of the barracks, so that after 30 days the water volume was read. After that, the pluviometric data were collected, so that it is possible to have a more accurate monthly average of the rainfall index of the municipality in question. Taking into account the volume of water consumed by the farm and calculating from the monthly rainfall volume and the size of the farm's sheds, it was possible to calculate the volume of water that would be collected and stored monthly. Comparing the two results it was possible to conclude that the farm needed a volume higher than the volume that would be captured, being able to be served only 2 sheds of the 7 found in the farm. The proposal did not present a feasible project to be implemented in the farm due to its low utilization. The project would only be feasible if in the future there would be one more water collection site with footage equal to or greater than 2000 m², and there would be no increase in the number of animals, only in the collection area.
