Resumo: When metallic materials in a load inversion situation are subject to plastic deformation, a decrease in the amount of stress required to the material yield plastically. In this way, the dependence of the directionality of the load is called Bauschinger effect. This phenomenon has important consequences in the conformation of metals, as in bending steel plates, and results in reduction of resistance when severely cold worked metals are subjected to loads of opposite signal. The best example of this is the performance of stretched bars or sheets laminated by passing through rollers applying alternating bending stress. In this work, the material of interest will be analyzed in tensile am compression to determine parameters that can quantify this effect. A series of models describing the Bauschinger effect are presented and, based on the difference of their stacking fault energy.
