Resumo: Aluminuim is part of commercial aviation since its beginning. Study and understand the aluminium alloys as well as the time shares and effort that the material undergoes during processing and shelf life is of fundamental importance to deliver the necessary security for applications in aircraft. The effect of corrosion by cutting fluid to Jatropha oil base used during machining of 7050-T7451 aluminium alloy parts that make up the structure of aircraft is the focus of performed study. A simulation of corrosion was conducted by a closed system in order to compare samples submitted in water and cutting fluid. By light microscopy were used to analyze the edges of the samples and analyze the corrosion phenomena in those regions. It was concluded that the cutting fluid has no significant influence on the intergranular corrosion, however, further analysis using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) would be needed to characterize the points of interest identified in the samples.
