With the urbanization of the environment for the creation of urban centers, most part of the original forests were devastated giving place for small forest fragments. These urban forest fragments have a huge importance for the fight against urban anthropic problems, ranging from thermal comfort, recreation and economy, to problems connected with floods, such as infiltration and surface runoff. Its importance is só great that the World Health Organization (WHO) estimates an acceptable minimum area by population (12 m²/pop) of green area for urban centers. The treetop interception of urban forest fragments which is one of the important benefits of forest fragments in an important component of the urban hydrological cycle, because it influences in the redistribution of rain water, damping, targeting and the retaining drops that reached the ground. The regulation of temperature by the forest fragments it’s also of considerable importance, seeing that, temperature is the main factor for thermal comfort. There by, the present study has as an initial objective the quantification of the area of urban forest fragments in the city of Medianeira – PR aiming to verify if the city is at least indicated by the WHO. Other objective which the study bring, is the quantification of precipitation interception by urban forest fragments from the collect of total precipitation in open area and the internal precipitation in a given urban forest fragment of a secondary semideciduos seasonal forest in the city of Medianeira – PR and perform temperature measurements inside and outside the fragments for identification of the temperature difference, in the season with higher incidence of precipitation and higher temperature (from historical data). At the end of the study, in addition to verifying that the area of urban forest fragments of the studied city was above the expectation, it was possible to observe the significant difference of temperature and interception, observing the benefits that these fragments bring to urban centers, highlighting the importance of preservation of these areas. |
