Resumo: The raise of population and water demand, poor management of water resources, among other factors have contributed to this resource being presented in quantity and low quality. In this sense, there is a need to analyze water resources from the perspective of sustainability, in order to guarantee access to water for current and future generations. To assist in its preservation, water reuse is an alternative that is being adopted frequently. Therefore, the development of systems that aim to reuse water by rainwater harvesting is an efficient alternative for the improvement of water availability in future scenarios. In view of this, the present work sought to evaluate the availability of Rio Alegria located in the city of Medianeira-PR, through the elaboration and analysis of the permanence curves, which were carried out following the Tucci method (2002) based on reference flows Q95 , Q90 and Q80. The archievement of the permanence curves related the flows of the water bodies and their permanence in the interval of time, in which the flow was greater or equal to the analyzed period. The curves of the whole analyzed period (2001 to 2009) were calculated. It was observed the value of 0.91m³ / s for Q95, 0.25m³ / s for Q90 and 0,34m³ / s for Q80. It was also found the flow values corresponding to 70% of Q95, where it was found that in the years 2002, 2004 and 2006, all mean flows of the months presented were above that calculated for 70% of Q95. From the results of the reference flows and the deficit periods, was possible to evaluate the water reuse techniques of the residences, finding for the reference flow Q95 in 2001, 2005 and 2008 the values of 5,205 and 4,985 residences respectively for implantation of the rainwater harvesting system in order to meet the water demand deficit.
