Ceramic Blocks are essential for the Construction sector. The quality and performance of these materials have a great influence on the lifespan of the buildings. The red ceramic industry is present throughout the State of Paraná and it is responsible for the consumption of more than 70% of all raw material (clay), as well as most of the companies and jobs in the sector. The companies that make up this sector are, in general, of small and medium size. Despite the effort to meet market demand, many of these companies face difficulties in terms of the capacity of the production process, as well as the quality of the final product. The objective of this work were to study and evaluate, with the help of Quality Tools and current technical standards, the production process of a Ceramic Blocks Industry, located in the Western Region of the State of Paraná. One hundred and thirty Ceramic Blocks were sampled, from which the mass, external wall thickness, septa thickness, hole diameter, width, length and height were measured. Once the normal values were verified, the control charts were constructed. It were observed that all evaluated variables were under control. Then, for the variables: width, height, length, external walls thickness and septa thickness, the process capacity indices were calculated. With this analysis, it were possible to verify that the production process were not able to produce Ceramic Blocks according to the tolerance limits indicated in the norm NBR 15.270-1: 2005, from ABNT. |
