Resumo: Organizations in an increasingly competitive market are constantly challenged to produce better results at lower cost, develop products and services based on a short life cycle and relate in a more customized and integrated with its customers, suppliers and partners. They should be able to improve their business processes and their communication with the area of Information Technology (IT), which depend for achieving their goals and strategies. This paper develops a study on the topics maturity in process management, to do so, examines the theoretical frameworks, applications and cases, in order to achieve a synthesis on the structure, the necessary knowledge, shortcomings and results of maturity management by processes. To achieve the desired goals, the work was developed from an extensive literature review and case studies focusing on the theme of modeling business processes.
