The civil construction is a sector that has been testing and studying several products and methods for the reusing of solid waste. A product that has been increasingly used in civil construction is the concrete block for interlocked paving. In this context, in order to present an alternative to the reuse of glassy residues from glass processing company, this study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of adding glassy residues in the manufacture of concrete block for interlocked paving. For this purpose, some tests were conducted and were made specimens, which were visually inspected, evaluated about compressive strength and water absorption. The first treatment was considered standard, in other words, without any percentage of glass powder in the composition. The other three treatments (2, 3 and 4) were manufactured with a variation of 10%, 20% and 30% of powder glass in the composition. The specimens were manufactured with sand, gravel, cement and water, whereas in the case of treatments 2, 3 and 4 it was added the respective percentages of powder glass. After the period of 7 days as are necessary to cure the specimens, tests of visual inspection and water absorption were performed and 10 days of curing the compressive strength test was performed, based on the recommendations of the NBR 9781: 2013, which regulates the pieces of concrete for paving. For the statistical analysis of the data, obtained results in compression and water absorption tests were used, being considered a confidence level of 5% for analysis of variance (ANOVA) and for the Tukey's test. It was found through the tests that the results for visual inspection analysis were satisfactory. For the compressive strength test any of the treatments reached values recommended by the standard mentioned above, and, treatment with addition of 20% glass powder had the best performance. In the water absorption test, any of the treatments reached values recommended by the standard, and, the greater the amount of glass powder, higher the water absorption. With this, it was concluded that the blocks manufactured with the percentage of glass powder stipulated in the study, are not indicated for use in paving roads for pedestrian traffic, vehicles equipped with pneumatic or product storage areas. |
