Resumo: Concern about waste accumulation in landfills and lack of space for its dumping is alarming. A lot of information and questions about recycling have been put out lately but sometimes we do not really know what can be recycled and what can be made out of it. Therefore, teaching measures must be taken, mainly with children because well-informed children usually become conscious adults. The objective of this Research Paper is to show other ways of recycling and at the same time make children of a school in the town of Medianeira aware of the environmental issue. Sponges for domestic use, toothbrushes and toothpaste with their packaging were collected for that purpose, and through videos of educational lectures the students were able to see what happens to this waste when sent to TerraCycle®, a worldwide known company specialized in waste of difficult recyclability. The waste was collected during seventy-eight days with the result of 106 units of sponge for domestic use, 86 units of toothbrushes, 34 units of toothbrush packaging, 148 units of toothpaste tubes and 191 units of toothpaste packaging. The collected waste was sent to TerraCycle where it will go through the recycling process. A questionnaire to the 5th year-children’s parents was also carried out in order to know the environmental perception within the family and it revealed the importance and need for Environmental Education taught through projects and activities at school so that everyone gets more knowledge and information about taking care of the environment.
